Five SPPS world language teachers graduated with their Master's degrees in World Language Instruction from Concordia College, Moorhead and earned their teaching licenses in Karen, Somali, and Arabic. The teachers applied what they learned to create new courses and materials for our Karen and Somali language programs in the district.
The teachers include (from left to right): Ibrahim Hussein (Somali and Arabic teacher at East African Magnet), Htoo Ku Wah (Karen Language & Culture specialist at Wellstone Elementary), Nue Nu (Grade 1 Karen Language and Culture teacher at Wellstone Elementary), Pawku Hser (Karen teacher at Como Park Senior High), and Lucas Blesser (Karen teacher at Washington Technology Magnet).
